Sawmill is pleased to have LPGA Teaching Professional Betsy Larey back at the club. Betsy has been teaching at Sawmill and in the St Croix Valley for the last 22 years. In addition to private lessons and small group classes; NEW THIS YEAR - supervised practice sessions that can be added on to any lesson package
    
She has also created a Spend the Day with the Pro package for groups of three to eight players. The program includes a customized 3 hour clinic in the morning, lunch, and an 18 hole supervised playing lesson in the afternoon. Bio:
Betsy Larey is a Class A LPGA Teaching Professional with 22 years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities. Betsy has been teaching at Sawmill and Loggers Trail for the last seven years. In addition she has been the Head Women’s Golf Coach at Carleton College in Northfield MN and Flagler College in St Augustine FL. She has also taught at the PGA Tour Academy in St Augustine FL. Betsy is also a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute and has a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Betsy is a proponent of the “student driven” model of teaching. Through the interview process, she will work with you to help determine your goals, and come up with a plan to get you there. “I believe that each person has a unique set of abilities and traits. I don’t think there is one ‘perfect swing’ that works for everyone. My job is to help each client build the most effective golf swing based on their abilities and goals.”

She also believes there are other factors that will have an impact on your golf game. They include equipment, course management physical conditioning and the mental/emotional component of golf. Betsy will address all of these elements during your lesson program. "Whether you play just for fun, are a league player, or aspire to play tournament golf, I guarantee your golf game will improve by incorporating the sound fundamentals I will teach you."

Sawmill/Loggers Trail is pleased to welcome back Kris Furlong. She joined our staff in 2007 and will be offering a wide variety of golf instruction programs  at the Club for 2009.  We have two Junior programs to choose from in 2009 and Kris will be running the Sawmill/Loggers Trail Junior Golf Program which offers instruction options from beginner to advanced.  Junior Golf Lessons will be held on Tuesdays with two five-week sessions available. Bio:
Kris Furlong has been teaching golf professionally for 16 years.  Kris is an avid student of all aspects of the golf game. Her teaching philosophy is easily summed up in one word “consistency “.  In order to have a great golf swing you must first be consistent in your pre-shot routine.  This helps the students learn the fundamentals of their golf swing.  She can provide the student with the knowledge to reach their goals and become successful.

Her professional golf career included competitive seasons playing on Future Tour, Players West Tour and Florida Central Challenge Tour in the early 90’s. Kris also qualified for numerous LPGA Events including The Northgate LPGA Classic Tournament in her native state of Minnesota.
